In the 1940s a Bel Air housewife began designing graphic knitting patterns for argyle socks for her Naval husband. Soon, friends and acquaintances wanted her patterns and she expanded her designs to include a group of Christmas Stockings. By the 1960s households all over America had someone in the family who knit every member a Grace Ennis Christmas Stocking.
By the 1980s the original knitters of these stockings were no longer around or were unable to keep up with the family tradition. The founding member of Koco Kachoo began creating fiber art at this time to replicate her own Grace Ennis stocking for the newest member of her family. This became a nearly full-time activity when people from other families wanted stockings for their new generations.
Koco Kachoo has evolved into different fiber arts including crochet and embroidery. We currently focus on creating the final product in the form of blankets and home decorations. We also occasionally jump into the design process and publish the design files or patterns for others to use to enjoy the process.
